This is my first post on the site so I’d like to take a minute to introduce myself, why I am here and what I am up to. My name is PJ Windle and I am a 14 year veteran in the wedding industry. I am a full time Professional DJ and I make my living throwing parties, planning events and trying to make my clients feel like more than just customers. Of course, we are all in the industry to make money. This is most anyone’s driving force when it comes to work. To be successful, ultimately you have to love what you do. That is why I am in this field. I absolutely love the feeling that I get when I book an event, start the planning process with the Bride and Groom and see it through all the way to the Big Day. I capitalize those words because it is more than just a date. It’s the official kick off point of two people’s lives becoming one. To me, this is a special honor bestowed upon any vendor of the wedding industry, but an even bigger one to the Wedding DJ picked for the event.
DJ’s can absolutely make or break an event. A great DJ that takes the time to pay attention to detail, cares about the choices of the Bride and Groom and navigates them throughout the process of planning their wedding should never be underestimated in his/her value. Too often I have seen the other side of the coin. If a Bride or Groom is stressing during the final weeks up to the wedding, the DJ is not doing his/her job. You see, my job is not only to provide music on the day of the celebration… it’s to be a professional, valuable and honest ear for the Bride and Groom to rely on. I have been through the process before, whereas they have not. They look to me for advice, for guidance and for approval of their ideas. If I do not take that seriously, or seriously enough, it can mean a difference in their party being decent, or one they will never forget. I aim for the latter. If I am going to be in this industry, I want to provide the best, most informative and complete party for the client as possible. I really enjoy the brainstorming sessions that I take part in with the Bride and Groom and I feel it’s invaluable to the success of the party. What I plan to do with this blog is jot down my thoughts as they come to me, in regards to all different aspects of the wedding day. Ceremony music styles, how to jazz up your cake cutting ceremony, different ways to do parent’s dances… etc.
If anyone has specific questions in regards how to go about something, how to be different, creative and exciting during their day, I’d be more than happy to answer with my best advice. You will absolutely help me in my process as well. As you ask questions and give me more to think about, I will ultimately do more research, become more well-rounded in my own profession and grow to become a better all around entertainer. I hope you enjoy reading my updates, give me good input and feel free to ask as many questions as you would like.
Thank you for taking the time to read and I appreciate it!
